One of the few paintings based on an antique photograph where I know the person's name: Fannie. Lucky for me she was sporting a brooch with her name on it.

I was reading lots of Henry James at the time and the quote in the back ground is from Portrait of a Lady

"A woman, perhaps, can get on; a woman, it seems to me, has no natural place anywhere; wherever she finds herself she has to remain on the surface and, more or less, to crawl. You protest, my dear?
